I love talking with Songwriters about their music – especially when there is a song that hits especially deep inside.
A few years back I was listening to Song Exploder – a really great music podcast that breaks songs down into their component parts. That show is production focussed. I wondered what a show might sound like if the focus was on the stories behind the songs themselves, and not how they were recorded.
Today, I’ve launched my new podcast, Song Stories.
Each episode will start with a conversation with a songwriter about one of their songs and end with that song. My goal here is to meet many more artists and introduce you to their music and songs that have made an impact on me, on them or often both.
Episode 1 goes deep with Nova Scotia’s Blue Acres and I can’t think of a better way to start. We talk about our shared faith background and our shared struggles to belong in those communities. It’s that shared history that hit me so hard the first time I heard Hard To Find. I knew I wanted to talk to Darrel Cameron (Blue Acres) about how this song came to be.
Hear our conversation – and subscribe for future episodes – on your platform of choice here.
Song Stories will be out every two weeks (more or less).
